Honda Vehicles With Heads-Up Display

The automobile industry continues to use technology to improve the driving experience. Modern vehicles now offer various driver-assist systems that help you steer, brake, and even turn. In addition, cars now come with advanced tech to keep you connected with things like Wi-Fi hotspots, wireless charging pads, smartphone synchronization, and wireless streaming.

One of the more recent advanced technologies we’ve seen deployed is the Heads Up Display. This system has gained popularity in the last few years, and Honda now installs it on many of its vehicles. If you haven’t heard of this tech before, you might be curious to learn its benefits and whether it’s right for you. We’ll explain how the system works and which Honda vehicles have it. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at (513) 793-7777.

What Is a Heads-Up Display?

Many things can distract a driver’s attention from the road. It only takes a brief moment to create an unsafe situation. For example, noticing a friend walking down the street, seeing a car accident on the side of the road, checking your phone, or glancing at your instrument panel to check your speed could cause an accident.

That’s why Honda developed its heads-up display (HUD) system. While no one can prevent every distraction from occurring, the idea behind the Honda HUD limits the internal distractions associated with driving. With a HUD, you no longer have to look down or away to see important information. Instead, the HUD projects that data to the windshield in front of you, right behind the steering wheel.

What Does the HUD Show You?

The information displayed varies widely by manufacturer, and then more again between models. For instance, a hybrid vehicle might show battery life and the distance you can travel with the remaining power. A gas-powered car might show you your remaining fuel and the distance you can travel before running out of gas.

Most HUD systems project your driver-assist alerts to the windshield before you. If your system supports traffic sign recognition, you’ll see anything from simply the data to an actual sign image. Forward collision or lane-changing alerts will flash on your HUD as well. Nearly every system will show you your speed, the direction you’re heading, time of day, and fuel or battery level.

The Honda HUD allows you to customize the information you see. For example, you can exclude traffic signs if you want and replace that space with something you feel has more value, such as navigation instructions. In addition, you can move the HUD on your windshield to a preferable location to suit your height. To change the location, you can use the steering wheel controls. Press the HUD button arrow keys to move the display up or down and side to side. You can press and hold the arrow keys for continuous movement or tap the keys to move the HUD slower.

Honda has continued to add technology to every vehicle year after year. So far, two Honda vehicles include a HUD system, the 2022 Honda Accord and the 2022 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell.

2022 Honda Accord

The 2022 Honda Accord, one of Honda’s most popular sedans, comes in five trim levels. Sleekly styled, powerfully equipped, and heavily loaded with the latest technology, sedan drivers love the Accord. You have several engine options, plus a hybrid version in every model.

The base model Accord comes with a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine with dual overhead cams and 16 valves with VTEC technology. Honda pairs this engine with a continuously variable transmission with sport mode to deliver smooth shifting and impressive power. As a result, this powertrain puts out 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.

The hybrid powertrain also uses a 2-liter inline four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and 16 valves with i-VTEC technology. A lithium-ion battery provides power to the electric motor. The electric/gas powertrain puts out an impressive combined system horsepower of 212 and 232 pound-feet of torque.

You have multiple interior configurations, upgraded technology packages, and, of course, a heads up display. If you opt for the Touring trim in gas or hybrid powertrain, you get the heads-up display standard.

2022 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell

One of the most advanced alternative fuel vehicles on the planet, the Clarity Fuel Cell by Honda, takes efficiency to all-new levels. The Clarity features modern sedan elegance with powerful performance and the latest technology package. Using a fuel cell that converts stored hydrogen into electricity, the Clarity Fuel Cell delivers instant acceleration, incredible power, and zero emissions. In addition, every Clarity comes standard with the heads-up display system.

The impressive engineering used on the Clarity puts the fuel stack entirely under the hood. As a result, clarity Fuel Cell cars don’t have the traditional transmission and engine tunnel beneath the vehicle. The absence of a powertrain tunnel enables a flat-floor design that opens up a spacious cabin. In addition, the covered underbody adds to the Clarity Fuel Cell’s aerodynamics. Honda uses side curtains covering the front tire that sweeps air back smoothly. In addition, you find rear curtain air ducts in front of the rear tire that help push the airflow up over the tires to lower drag.

Honda uses a combination of aluminum and ultra-high-strength steel in the body and frame construction. These materials result in a stronger, lighter vehicle that’s more agile and faster. Refueling the Clarity Fuel cell works the same as its gas-powered equivalents. In addition, the fuel tank rests between the high-strength frame, protecting it from damage should an accident occur.
