Both the Accord and Camry hybrids are available in a series of trim levels that make it easier for you to find the best sedan for you. As you upgrade through the trim levels, the list of creature comforts and bonus features grows. This allows you to strike the right balance between budget and feature availability.

2022 Honda Accord Hybrid

The 2022 Accord Hybrid is produced in four trim levels:

  • Accord Hybrid: $27,320.
  • Accord Hybrid Sport: $30,670.
  • Accord Hybrid EX-L: $33,640.
  • Accord Hybrid Touring: $37,190.

2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The 2022 Camry Hybrid has five options:

  • LE Hybrid: $27,380.
  • SE Hybrid: $28,915.
  • SE Hybrid Nightshade Edition: $29,615.
  • XLE Hybrid: $32,270.
  • XSE Hybrid: $32,820.

The SE Hybrid Nightshade Edition is simply an SE Hybrid with black accents. The Accord’s version of this is the Sport trim level.

Engines and Power

Both models offer just one powertrain. The Accord and Camry offer similar muscle, but the Honda Accord is a few horsepower stronger than its competition.

2022 Honda Accord Hybrid

Each 2022 Accord Hybrid is outfitted with a powertrain that consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that produce 212 total system horsepower. This is connected to a front-wheel-drive system and a continuously variable automatic transmission.

2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The new Camry Hybrid also has one option when it comes to powertrains. Each of its trim levels is outfitted with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that together create 208 system horsepower. This powertrain also features a continuously variable automatic transmission and a front-wheel-drive system.

Interior Features

The Accord and Camry offer fairly similar lists of interior features. The Accord has more passenger volume than the Camry: 102.7 versus 99.9 cubic feet. The Accord also has 16.7 cubic feet of trunk space, whereas the Camry only has 15.1 cubic feet. Both models seat five passengers.

2022 Honda Accord Hybrid

The Accord gives you plenty of exciting features from the start. The entry-level model has dual-zone climate control to keep you comfortable throughout the year and an 8-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility to keep you connected and entertained. The Sport adds sporty features such as performance pedals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. If you want heated front seats, choose the EX-L, which also offers leather upholstery and an upgraded sound system. The Touring adds ventilated front seats and heated rear seats.

2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Camry also has dual-zone automatic climate control at its entry level, but it comes with a smaller 7-inch screen. The SE is the sport-minded edition, offering simulated leather and fabric seats. Choose the XLE to get heated front seats and leather upholstery.

When it comes to fuel economy, both models shine. However, they do so from different directions. At the entry level, the Camry beats the Accord. However, if you want a good mix of features and luxury with your electrified efficiency, you’ll want to stick with the Honda Accord. Past the first trim level, the Camry experiences a significant drop in fuel economy that puts it below the Accord’s standard efficiency.

2022 Honda Accord Hybrid

The new entry-level Accord Hybrid and the Accord Hybrid EX-L get up to 48 mpg in the city and 47 mpg on the highway thanks to the powertrain’s efficient design. The Hybrid Sport and Touring lower this efficiency to 44 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway due to their increased performances.

2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Toyota Camry gets up to 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway with its standard powertrain. However, this is only true of its first trim level, the LE Hybrid. All other trim levels get 44 mpg in the city and 47 mpg on the highway.

Safety Features

Both of these sedans feature some useful driver-assist technologies that increase your safety on the road. Many of these features are standard, but you’ll find bonus safety systems at higher trim levels. The 2022 Honda Accord has more standard smart safety features than the Camry.

2022 Honda Accord Hybrid

Each 2022 Accord Hybrid comes standard with the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist technologies. This includes quite a few systems, including the:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System.
  • Road departure mitigation system.
  • Adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow.
  • Lane-keeping assist system.
  • Forward collision warning.
  • Lane departure warning.
  • Traffic sign recognition system.

You’ll find the Accord’s available blind-spot monitor standard on the EX-L, as well as parking sensors for the front and rear. The Touring adds a head-up display that helps you keep your focus on the road.

2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Each 2022 Camry Hybrid is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite. This includes the:

  • Pre-collision system with pedestrian detection.
  • Lane departure alert with steering assist.
  • Automatic high beams.
  • Lane-tracing assist.
  • Road sign assist.
  • Full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control.

A blind-spot monitor is standard on the XLE trim level. If you want to load up on safety features for the XLE, be sure to add the Driver Assist Package.

Final Verdict

It’s a tight race, but we have to go with the 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid with this one. Both models are fairly even at the lower trim levels, but if you’re looking to treat yourself to more amenities and first-class treatment, the Accord reigns supreme. It also offers more reliable fuel efficiency than the Camry’s upper trim levels.
