BrewRiver Gastropub

The food philosophy of BrewRiver Gastropub includes operating a kitchen that makes every meal from scratch and uses locally sourced ingredients from purveyors known for their quality. Your meal is prepared at the time it’s ordered, a process that makes your food taste better even though it takes a little more time for it to cook. BrewRiver Gastropub is also a partner of Sonder’s Brewing and serves Sonder’s craft beer alongside their dishes.

The brunch menu is available from 10 am to 2 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. Experience the establishment’s take on a sausage gravy and biscuit made with Weisenberger Mill house-made giant biscuit and local sausage gravy. Try the wild mushroom poutine and eggs dish that features hand-made wild mushroom gravy over hand-cut fries with Wisconsin cheese curds and local eggs. Last but not least, the buttermilk chicken and waffles delivers flavor with buttermilk brined organic chicken and Sonder beer Cajun maple syrup. 

Half Day Cafe

Half Day Cafe is a true mom-and-pop operation in Mason, Ohio, that’s determined to provide a quality brunch experience to their patrons. The owners of Half Day Cafe pride themselves on not being a chain of restaurants without a local soul, and instead, work hard to offer a breakfast and lunch menu that qualifies as brunch any day of the week. Opening hours at the Mason restaurant are 7 am to 2 pm six days a week, and 8 am to 2 pm on Sundays. 

Some of the menu items for breakfast include omelets, eggs served the way you like them, sausage, and bacon. You’ll also find interesting and tempting delights such as buttermilk pancakes topped with mango butter rum syrup, burrito con carnitas, Greek and western omelet options, and an egg strata. The lunch menu features a chicken and brie quesadilla that brings together flavors from around the world, a fig, gouda, and bacon served on griddled farm white bread, and a pear salad that consists of red d’anjou pears, goat cheese, and caramelized pecans served on a bed of locally grown hydroponic lettuce. 

Maplewood Kitchen and Bar

Maplewood Kitchen and Bar is a restaurant belonging to the Thunderdome Restaurant Group, a local operation that creates restaurants designed to bring another part of the country or world to Mason, Ohio.  The menu at Maplewood Kitchen and Bar brings the West Coast to the Midwest in the form of dishes that are created from ingredients and flavor combinations that are associated with states on the Pacific Coast. 

The brunch menu is served from 8 am to 3 pm daily and features items such as locally roasted coffee, cage-free eggs, cold-pressed juice, and grass-fed butter to help make its dishes extraordinary. Give the tried-and-true avocado toast that’s covered in avocado, pistachio, local honey, and sea salt for soft, yet undeniable flavors. Get over your dislike of Brussels sprouts with a dish of Brussels sprout benedict that features roasted Brussels sprout and butternut squash, poached eggs, everything spice, kale pesto, and hash browns. Cozy’s Cafe and Pub

Cozy’s Cafe and Pub is located a short distance from Mason in Liberty Township and features a brunch on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm and on Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm. Reservations are recommended in order for you to enjoy the rustic interior design of the restaurant that pays homage to Cincinnati’s industrial past. The restaurant focuses on farm-to-table cooking paired with a glass of wine from its excellent wine selection, craft beer, or a classic cocktail.

The brunch menu is sure to delight with menu items that include chicken and waffle with a spicy syrup and onion straws, crunchy French toast topped with warmed macerated berries, Milligan’s syrup, and your choice of breakfast meat. If you’re looking for a kickstart to your day, go for the Good Morning Shrimp and Grits that’s made with jumbo shrimp, spicy andouille sausage, bell peppers, and shallots that are served over cheesy grits with Cajun shrimp stock. The house burger is offered during brunch and is sure to fill you up with bourbon bacon jam, white cheddar, greens, tomato, and caramelized onions on brioche. 

Kala Coffeehouse

Kala is the Greek word for good, and the founders of Kala Coffeehouse are committed to bringing good food and drink to your table through the use of ingredients that are locally sourced, minimally processed, and carefully crafted. The atmosphere at the coffeehouse is designed to get you to slow down a little, enjoy your time and meal, and make Kala a home away from home. A portion of profits goes towards supporting local causes with a focus on helping neglected children find their way towards a better life.

Kala is not strictly a brunch place, but it serves brunch foods that are complemented by the many smoothies, espresso drinks, coffees, and teas on tap. Settle in with a delicious beverage and enjoy the Signature Sandwich consisting of TS Farms sausage and house sauce served on a Blue Oven English Muffin. Savor the flavor of avocado and everything toppings served on Blue Oven bread. Toasts aren’t available on Wednesday, but waffles are, so take your pick of a seasonal flavor or whole wheat and tuck in.
